Joint aid campaign of the Bavarian Red Cross and Scheppach GmbH
Scheppach donated machines to victims of flooding, with a market value of more than 800,000 Euros
Scheppach GmbH donated more than 1,500 urgently required machines to people affected by flooding in the Günzburg area. Despite the high demand of its business partners, Scheppach singled out these machines for those affected by flooding in the area, implementing an immediate aid campaign. “For us, the question wasn’t whether but how quickly we could implement this campaign”, explained Ernst Pfaff, Owner of the Scheppach Group. Despite staffing shortages in all departments – many employees were affected directly or indirectly, i.e. helping neighbours or friends – all resources were mobilised so the campaign could start within just a few hours.

Scheppach thanked the Bavarian Red Cross District Association of Günzburg. Helped by Dr. Hans Reichhart, County Commissioner, and his colleagues, contact with the Bavarian Red Cross was established via the District Administration. The Regional Managing Director Daniel Freuding and the First Chairman Reichhart sen. of the Bavarian Red Cross quickly agreed to help in the aid campaign. On the Tuesday morning, the next steps were discussed on the phone with Managing Director of Scheppach GmbH, Stephan W. Müller. At the same time, preparations were running at full steam in Scheppach’s Logistics Department: Scheppach brought the machines together at the logistics location for collection. Meanwhile, Scheppach’s Marketing Team was working on a strategy for communication to publicise the campaign via social media. At about 2 p.m., the organisers met with Dr. Reichhart for a brief on-site appointment at Scheppach. While the first pictures were being taken, some people affected by the flooding started to arrive to collect machines.

And as soon as Wednesday evening, all equipment had gone because of the great demand. Wet/dry vacuum cleaners, generators, pumps, high-pressure cleaners and demolition hammers were handed out. Building dehumidifiers were given to those affected or reserved where applicable. The market value of the donated equipment was more than 800,000 Euros.
This social project contributed quickly and effectively to fixing damage caused by flooding as well as to those affected being able to return to their own homes without undue delay.
